British Army Machete

First time used Sgt Preppers and well impressed great profuct great service thanks 👍👍

The scales were a little loose on arrival so I needed to replenish the alu rivets. Also needed sharpening but that's not unusual with machetes. I find the handle a bit wide to what I'm use to so I will address that a some point, also the wood is very smooth and slippery but easily sorted.
For the last 15 years I've used a 20" Bolo in combination with a small folding saw and occasionally a small axe for heavier splitting. I wanted to try this shorter heavier machete to take some of the work of the Bolo and the axe and it has some what lightened my load. It's seems to be working out okay. As expected it doesn't do the work of the other two tools quite as well but it does the work of both tools adequately. It has a good weight and thickness to it and splits reasonably sized wood well and it holds and edge fairly well.

I will re-profile the first 3" of the blade at some point to use for carving and cutting tasks.

The sheath is well made and fits the blade well although I will make a PVC sheath for mine as that's what I'm use to.

Overall I think it's great value for money and with a bit of tweaking makes a very good woodland camp tool. It's also fine as it comes (although it will need a sharpen) but everyone has different shaped hands and there's plenty of wood on the handle to make it fit nice.

I wanted a small(ish) machete and I used to like the ones we were issued back in the eighties in the British Army. A quick search and I found you. The machete is just as they were then, it’s well made and robust and it is just what I wanted. As I’ve said, I’m very pleased with it and not least for the nostalgia!
