MIRA Safety MB-90 PAPR Powered Air-Purifying Respirator (Filters Not Included)

A belt-worn powered air-purifying respirator that turns a 40mm NATO gas mask, half mask or hood into a positive-pressure system. Filters are sold separately.

SUMMARY

The MIRA MB-90 is a blower unit that sits on your belt and pushes 90 litres of filtered air a minute through a hose to your facepiece. The positive pressure takes the effort out of breathing through a dense filter and adds protection around the edge of a tight-fitting mask. MIRA says it is based on a design used by Israeli special forces, adapted with a tougher body and a battery module that runs on ordinary AA batteries, for up to 12 hours of continuous use.

DETAILS

• Powered airflow: 90 litres a minute and positive pressure inside the facepiece (MIRA's figures), so you are not pulling air through the filter yourself.

• Easier breathing: MIRA positions it for people who find a standard mask tiring, who cannot get a tight seal, or who have facial hair.

• Up to 12 hours of use: Continuous operation on AA batteries or a rechargeable battery pack. A spare battery module can be swapped in if power runs low.

• Works with the masks you have: Standard 40mm NATO connection (Rd40 x 1/7"), for full-face masks, half masks and loose-fitting hoods. The breathing tube has a 90-degree connector on the mask side. MIRA notes that compatibility with third-party masks varies and some may need an adapter.

• Filters not included: Choose the filter for the job. It takes 40mm activated carbon and HEPA-type filters, such as our NBC-77 SOF or ParticleMax P3. MIRA states that the NBC-17 SOF and P-CAN Compact filters are not compatible with the MB-90 because of their shorter threads.

• Light enough to wear: MIRA gives the unit's weight as about 28 oz (roughly 800g). A MOLLE pouch for it is available separately.

Why Choose the MB-90?

The filter decides what you are protected against; the MB-90 only moves the air. What it changes is comfort and fit: easier breathing, less fatigue over a long wear, and a positive-pressure margin around the seal. It is also the unit MIRA recommends alongside the MD-1 children's mask and requires for the Animal Ark.

If you are not completely satisfied with your items then you can return them to Sgt Prepper Shop within 30 days of delivery. Damaged items or faults need to be reported within 48hrs of delivery.

Orders over £80 qualify for free standard delivery. For orders under £80, a flat £4.95 shipping fee applies.
