Water at Home Kit: 2 Jerry Cans, 100 Purification Tablets, 3 Litres of Water

Two folding 10 litre jerry cans, 100 water purification tablets and 3 litres of sealed drinking water: a way to store water, make doubtful water safe to drink, and have some ready in the meantime. It's for the day the tap runs brown after a mains repair, a boil notice, or a burst pipe on the street.

What's in it

• 10 litre collapsible jerry cans, two. Fill them when a warning comes, fold them flat the rest of the time. 20 litres between them.
• Water purification tablets, two packs of 50. Aquatabs dissolve in minutes and disinfect clear water within 30 minutes. In strips, they keep for five years.
• PainsWessex emergency drinking water, six 500ml packs. Each pack is four 125ml foil sachets, ready to drink, with a five-year shelf life. 3 litres in all.

How much water is enough?

The government's guidance uses 2.5 to 3 litres per person per day as a minimum. Full, the two jerry cans hold about three days' drinking water for two people. The sealed packs cover the first day for one person while you fill the cans, or go in a bag if you have to leave home.

Before you buy

• Tablets treat clear water. If water is cloudy, let it settle and pour it off, or filter it, before adding a tablet.
• Stored tap water doesn't keep for ever. Empty and refill the cans every few months, or fill them only when you need to.
• This isn't a filter. If you want to drink from streams or water butts, a filter such as the Sawyer Mini is the tool for that, with a tablet as well where viruses are a risk.

Returns Policy

If you are not completely satisfied with your items then you can return them to Sgt Prepper Shop within 30 days of delivery. Damaged items or faults need to be reported within 48hrs of delivery.

Orders over £80 qualify for free standard delivery. For orders under £80, a flat £4.95 shipping fee applies.
