Nitecore P27iX Tactical Torch, 5000 Lumens, 430m

The P17iX's bigger brother: the same choose-your-own beam, a larger head that throws 430 metres in Search mode, and twin tail switches you can work with gloves on. If you want one serious torch for the house, the car and the hill, this is the one we'd pick.

What it's for

Floodlight, Mixed or Spotlight, each with four levels, from a 15-lumen glow that runs for 100 hours to 1,500 lumens for two and a half hours. Search mode reaches 430 metres and Lumin Shield gives the full 5,000 lumens in a burst. The tail has two buttons with an anti-grab shape, a side button sets the level, and Rapid Lock keeps it off in transit. The strike bezel has ceramic tips.
